After graduating from Lehman College with a major in elementary education and minors in speech and theater, Melanie Salkin became the head buyer of merchandise at Rose Salkin Bridals and Fashions in Brooklyn, New York. In her leisure time, Melanie Salkin enjoys attending Broadway shows, especially musicals.
Broadway theater aficionados can look forward to a variety of new musicals throughout 2018, as well as some classic revivals. Upcoming shows to consider include the following:
My Fair Lady: a revival of the musical by Lerner and Loewe, it has returned to Broadway after 25 years and opens on March 15th. This musical tells the classic story of the cockney flower girl who learns the manners and speech of a lady.
Pretty Woman: adapted from the beloved film of the same name starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, this musical will have its first preview on July 20th and an official opening on August 16th.
Prince of Broadway: with previews beginning on August 3rd and an official opening on August 24th, this new musical honors the six decades of Harold Prince's career. The show will feature both new and well-known songs that earned the producer many awards.
